Where to Stay & Visit

Doohamlet boasts a number of places to stay;

Connolly’s B&B and Guesthouse is located in the village centre and offers self catering and bed and breakfast accommodation. Alice’s Loft self catering homes are situated between Doohamlet and Castleblayney, about 2 miles from the village. Drumhowan Country House is about 2 miles southwest of Doohamlet. Neighbouring towns like Carrickmacross, Castleblayney, Ballybay and Monaghan can offer a range of hotel, B&B and hotel accommodation – see Monaghan’s tourism website for more information.

While in Doohamlet why not visit our Community Park, located in the Cois Locha F82707F9-1273-44B2-8968-431D50284FF4Housing estate, which has a Multi-Use Games Area, children’s playground, picnic tables and safe and level walking path. Doohamlet Community Garden, in the grounds of the Community Centre, is a tranquil setting with pathway along a beautiful stream. The towns of Castleblayney and Ballybay have public parks with excellent playground facilities.

Doohamlet All Saints RC Church is a focal point in the village – it’s graveyard is often visited by people researching family history and geneology, and it has a shrine to the late Fr. Scahill.

Doohamlet O Neills GFC can provide an opportunity to experience a real taset of Irish community life, with matches taking place regularly during the Summer months.

There’s great fishing in nearby lakes, like Tonnyscallon and Toome Lakes, both in Doohamlet, and Lough Muckno (Castleblayney) and Lough Major (Ballybay).

Connolly’s Lounge in Doohamlet village is a great spot for a quiet drink. Ballybay and Castleblayney offer great options for dining and evening entertainment.
