Doohamlet Projects

A number of major projects took place in Doohamlet over the past number of years;

Doohamlet O Neill’s GFC Redevelopment (2020) This is a major expansion and redevelopment of O’ Neill Park in Doohamlet, incorporating a Doohamlet District Community Development Association project funded by the Local Authorities Waters Programme (LAWPRO) 2020 and a Doohamlet Tidy Towns project funded by Monaghan County Council’s Local Environmental Action Fund.

Doohamlet Community Park (2017/2018) This CLAR funded project upgraded and extended the playground in the Cois Locha estate and installed a gravel walkway and trees around the green space to create a new community park. Later a PEACE IV funded Multi-Use Games Area was installed to provide a basketball/football/multi-sport area for the benefit of everyone, but particularly for teenagers.

Doohamlet Town & Village Project (2018/2019) This project improved footpaths through the village to create wider footpath/cycleways and extended street lighting to Doohamlet O’ Neills GFC grounds to increase physical activity, sustainability and to improve road safety. It also incorporated a Doohamlet District Community Development Association project to install new native hedgerows, trees and planting throughout the village funded through a Monaghan County Council Local Agenda 21 programme.

Doohamlet Community Garden (2012) This PEACE III funded project was a catalyst for many projects in the area, when it brought the local community together to deliver a fantastic new space for everyone to enjoy.

Doohamlet National School & Childcare Extension (2009) – This project built a facility for a new pre-school, before school and after school facility on the grounds of Doohamlet National School and much needed within the local community.
